Solar Panel Installation FAQs
What happens to my system if the grid goes down?
When the power goes out in your home, the solar panels will stop generating energy to maintain the safety of the utility workers as they restore power. Once the power is restored, your system will produce energy again.
If it is important for you to maintain power during a blackout, we recommend adding storage to your system. With battery storage, you can use the power stored in your battery, and your system will continue producing energy.
How is solar power affordable?
If you have a good southern exposure, you can start paying less for your power from day one. Our lease and loan options require no money out of pocket.
What if I don’t want it on my roof?
A ground mounted system could be a great option for you.
On which roof types can you install solar?
We can install on asphalt shingle roofs, rolled asphalt, rubber membrane, and metal roofs.
Is my roof eligible for solar?
We will work with you to determine the best roofs for solar generation. Typically a southern-facing roof is the best option, but an east-west facing roof with limited shade works as well!
What is this going to cost me?
Most homeowners go solar for $0 out of pocket. With a solar lease or loan, you can potentially replace your electric bill with a lower monthly solar payment.
I don’t want the panels viewable by road, am I still able to get solar?
You can, but you may not see the best long-term savings in that case. Installing solar on a north-facing roof will provide significantly less energy than a southern-facing roof
What happens if I move while leasing a system?
Leased solar panel systems are 100% transferable to the next homeowner. Alternatively, you or the next homeowner may choose to buy out the system.
Who do I call if I have a problem with my solar panels?
Call us at (860) 871-9700 x 2 so we can assess your system performance.
Why doesn’t my monitoring device match my utility bill?
Your utility’s billing period may not start on the first day of the month, so be careful when looking at monthly production or consumption to ensure that you are comparing numbers over the same time period.
Remember: Your utility meter only measures the energy that passes through its meter. Energy produced from your solar array that is used immediately will not be reported to your utility meter. Conversely, your solar monitoring will show all of the energy you used and produced in the home.
Do you service other states?
Yes! We operate in CT, MA, and OR.
How can I install a critter guard or snow guard with my system?

What if I need to remove and reinstall my system?
